| A young mathematician asked to revisit the center. |
Students are building Number Sense.
Our young mathematicians need to have a solid understanding of number sense, to help master the higher math that lies ahead.
First graders are beginning with their fives.
1) First, count out 5 lady bugs.
2) Next, "Shake those lady bugs"
3) Now, check the pattern.
4) What do you see? E.g. 3 reds and 2 white write the number problem 3 + 2 in that row.
5) Repeat, and look at the ladybug combination.
Second graders are trying the nines.
